Mr. Friedman, Founder & Principal of H. Friedman Search is responsible for all placement & recruitment of Municipal Finance Bankers, Advisors, Issuers & Bond Counsel.
Harlan’s recruitment efforts result in sole sourcing of both candidates and companies within the area of banking, finance & law. He oversees all recruiting nationwide representing both Regional and Super Regional Investment Banking firms and Regional and National Law Firms.
Mr. Friedman is tasked with the responsibility for overseeing and managing all aspects of client and candidate relationships from initial interview to transition. He has been instrumental in sourcing, presenting, negotiating and closing candidates.
Mr. Friedman earned Rookie of the Year, his first complete year in the business as well as becoming a 2012 – 2018 Presidents Club member. Over his tenure, which is only seven plus years in the industry, his recruitment figures are over 80 individuals and teams throughout the United States. In 2018 Mr. Friedman was admitted into the Pinnacle Society, an elite organization for Top Recruiters in the Country. He credits his in-depth knowledge of Public Finance and the Legal arena for his success. Experience That Led To Executive Recruitment & More
During his tenure with M.L. Stern & Co, Mr. Friedman held the position of Senior Investment Banking Manager. His responsibilities included the structuring; analysis and underwriting of tax-exempt municipal bonds and leases on behalf of public agencies and private issuers. In 1988 Mr. Friedman formed the consulting firm h.a.f. STRATEGIES, the predecessor to Lightning Development Group, in order to better serve the project financing needs of the Real Estate Land Developer. As financing consultant to the Developer, Mr. Friedman provided the expertise needed to utilize the various public financing mechanisms available for the funding of infrastructure. He has been responsible for in excess of 500 million dollars in community facilities districts and special assessment district funding.
Mr. Friedman graduated from The George Washington University in 1978, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree, and Western State University College of Law in 1983 (Thomas Jefferson Law School), earning a Juris Doctor Degree. As part of his continuing education, in 1995 he earned his GRI (Graduate, Realtor Institute) and his California Real Estate Broker License, which he currently holds.

Ms. Crossett, joins H. Friedman Search as a Senior Executive Recruiter from Novum Group, Inc. where she led the Bond Counsel recruiting effort on the Capital Markets Team. Prior to that, Jennifer was a Senior member of the Wealth Management Recruiting Practice for Novum Group, Inc for eight years. During her tenure, Jennifer was responsible for training and development of new incoming members of Novum’s recruiting fleet, supporting several divisions of the firm. She is a forward-thinking talent acquisition leader who is well versed in the challenges of attracting and retaining high-impact individuals in the Public Finance and Bond Counsel industry. She is passionate about people and thrives on building long-lasting relationships with both her candidates and clients. Her attention to detail and ability to listen has helped Attorneys and Public Finance Bankers achieve their transition and growth goals.
Ms. Crossett is a local San Diegan, having grown up in Ramona, CA. She graduated from California State University of San Marcos, where she studied Psychology, and currently resides in San Diego with her family where she enjoys spending time with her two children, Nolan and Dylan, and husband Aaron.
